Review: Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual & Giveaway

Summary: This is the book that Bobbi Brown's fans have been waiting for: her 25-plus years of makeup styling experience distilled into one complete, gorgeous book. Bobbi looks at everything from skincare basics to every aspect of facial makeup--from how to find the right color and type of foundation for any skin tone to how to apply every detail of eye makeup (Brows, Eye Liner, Eye Shadow, and Eye Lashes) no matter your eye color and shape. Of course there are never-before-seen tips on blush, bronzer, lip liners, lipstick, etc. And Bobbi looks beyond the face with informative chapters on "Hands and Feet" and "Body Skin Care." Each chapter has thorough step-by-step basic directions for makeup application and easy-to-follow photographs and line drawings, along with Bobbi's expert, yet assuring, advice. Plus, there's a groundbreaking section of the book that will be of special interest to women who've wanted to know how makeup stylists do what they do: the top beauty secrets only these artists know, essential equipment to keep on hand, how to break into the business, and how to work with photographers and celebrities.

Breathtaking photos of the finished faces-from everyday looks to exotic runway style-along with advice on putting it all together for every woman, make this a book like no other.

BOBBI BROWN'S MAKEUP MANUAL will be the only book any woman will need to look absolutely fabulous. -- Springboard

For a makeup junkie like me, BOBBI BROWN MAKEUP MANUAL is an incredible book. I have always admired Ms. Brown and her ability to apply such natural-looking makeup. Her latest book will teach you how because it is chock full of tips and advice for women of all ages. This is the only resource you will ever need for makeup. Plus, the photographs are just amazing! Trust me when I say that this book could sit out on your coffee table -- it's that beautiful.

I had so much fun going through this book last night, and I have to say that I learned a great deal. I found a lot of useful hints that I intend to implement right away; and I can't wait to go shopping for new (and correct) shades. I was impressed with how Ms. Brown offered advice for women with all types of skin types as well as women of different ethnic backgrounds. The step-by-step pictures of how to apply the various makeup make so much sense and make everything look "doable."

In addition to the everyday makeup advice, there are many helpful hints for specific situations such as bridal makeup, special-occasion makeup, makeup for teens, ageless beauty, makeup during pregnancy, and (my favorite) bad-day beauty. There is also a wonderful section on the "Artistry" of makeup including information on what it takes to be a professional artist. I especially enjoyed the section on the history of makeup, and I loved learning about the "who's who" of makeup.

Does this book sound like something you'd like? Well, I have up to five copies to giveaway courtesy of Hachette Book Group USA! All you have to do is leave a comment, with your e-mail address, telling me why you want this book. For every 15 comments I get, I will give away one book. If you'd like to double your chances, please blog about this post with a link back here. This contest is open to U.S. and Canadian mailing addresses only -- no p.o. boxes please. This contest will be open until Sunday, December 15th at 11:59 p.m. EST. I will announce the winner the following day.

I'm also a makeup junkie! In fact, for the longest time, I wanted to be a makeup artist! Nowadays, I'm content with just experimenting with makeup and looking up makeup tutorials online. Haha, one would say that I'm just a little obsessed, but it used to be worse.

I want this book because I am not good at anything but the most basic makeup application. I would love to be more adventurous with my makeup - right now I only wear foundation unless it's a special occasion.

I'd love to receive a copy of the book. I use some Bobbi Brown products. I'm in a rut wearing the same eye shadow color for 10 years now. Perhaps there is new advice that I should learn before buying some new makeup. And I still can't find a lipstick shade that looks non-clownish on me.

Thanks!

This book could be the answer for me! I'm a 58 year old female just retired State Trooper. (Finally!) This book could hopefully ease my transition back into the real world and give me a heads up on make-up after 25 years of wearing an "attractive" BROWN uniform. (If not the book can I have Bobbi Brown for a day?) Thanks.
