TIME FOR KIDS EXPLORES: ROBOTS is another fantastic book from Time For Kids! Last week, I reviewed X WHY Z ANIMALS and I couldn't get over how fun and education it was. ROBOTS is geared towards a little older audience, ages eight to twelve; however, it's just as informative... and I think kids interested in science will love it!
Unfortunately, Booking Son isn't all that interested in robots (or science for that matter) so I can't really give you my nine year old's perspective of the book. What I can tell you is that this book rocks! I didn't think I was all that interested in robots and I found this book to be extremely interesting.
ROBOTS is divided into seven different chapters that tie in with the different types of robots -- Robots that Work, Robots that Protect, Robots that Explore, Robots that Fly, Robots that Help, Robots that Play, and Robots that Kids Make. There are also sections on Robots in History and Robots of the Future.
I absolutely love the layout of ROBOTS. There is so much happening on each page! There are many bright colorful photographs and tons of fun facts. In addition, the information is presented in a way that just draws the reader in. There are lists, different sizes and colors of font, and captions with interesting tidbits in different colored (and shaped) bubbles. So very cool!
One of the sections that I found the most intriguing was Robots that Help. This chapter featured surgery orbits, robots in the home, robots on the road and robots in school to name just a few. I knew hospitals used robotics quite a bit, but it was fascinating to learn specifics. And I have to admit the section on how robots can help with housework had a little bit of interest to me!
I just can't rave enough about books from Time for Kids. They are perfect for school and home libraries. Highly recommended!

This is probably at the right level for me. I know Vance would have loved it when he was younger.
Two of my nephews would have loved this -- they were so into robots when they were little.
