Kid Konnection: All Fish Faces

Every Saturday, I host a feature called Kid Konnection -- a regular weekend feature about anything related to children's books. This week I'm going to share a book that is not only beautiful but also educational!

Summary: Photography and Fun Facts about tropical reef fish, ALL FISH FACES will entertain people of all ages! Getting to know our underwater world is a fascinating journey into the unknown! It is so important to introduce children, kids, and adults to our ocean and its animals so we can protect it for future generations. 10% of profits will go to the Marine Megafauna Foundation so they can continue their scientific research to protect our oceans and ocean giants.

Who doesn't love looking at tropical fish? I am constantly amazed that these beautiful creatures exist in nature, and that's one of the reasons that I was initially drawn to the children's book ALL FISH FACES: PHOTOS & FUN FACTS ABOUT TROPICAL REEF FISH by Tam Warner Minton.

ALL FISH FACES is a softcover book that has 70 pages of gorgeous full color photographs of all things related to tropical fish. It's the first book in the Ocean Friends series, and I can't wait to see what the author has in store for future installments. Her photography is nothing short of breath-taking, and parents and children alike will enjoy looking these fish.

I will admit that the color photographs were the first thing that I noticed about this book; however, I also appreciated the tidbits about the various types of fish. The author gives brief, but engaging, descriptions about certain fish; and the tone is friendly and fun. I can totally see elementary age kiddos reading this book out loud to their parents because the facts are so interesting.

The author wrote ALL FISH FACES with the intent of introducing children to our ocean and its creatures. Ms. Minton's hope is that children will see the beauty of the ocean and then work towards protecting it. Isn't that a great message? In addition, she is donating ten percent of profits to the Marine Megafauna Foundation.

I think ALL FISH FACES would make a great addition to home and school libraries.

Thanks to the publisher for providing a review copy of this book.

If you'd like to participate in Kid Konnection and share a post about anything related to children's books (picture, middle grade, or young adult) from the past week, please leave a comment as well as a link below with your name/blog name and the title of the book! I love watching fish but don't want to take care of them. This sounds like a fabulous book.

Every time I go to an aquarium or something that has fish, I am always amazed at all the different varieties and colors of fish there are. It really is mind-boggling.
