Wondrous Words Wednesday - April 13, 2011

Wondrous Words Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Kathy aka Bermuda Onion where we share new (to us) words that we’ve encountered in our reading. Feel free to join in the fun.

myxomatosis - "Apart from the odd accidental roadkill or the mercy killing of a victim of myxomatosis, he had never knowingly dispatched a rabbit but supposed he could if it was a necessity." (p. 70)

myxomatosis: a condition characterized by the presence of many myxomas (a soft tumor composed of connective and mucoid tissue.)

shufti - "Just having a shufti." (p. 89)

shufti: slang  ( Brit ) a look; peep

What new words did you discover this week?

I got lots of words from that book. I'm surprised we didn't use the same ones. Thanks for playing along!

How fabulous, two of you using the same book (I want to read some of her books more than ever now....) Myxomatosis is a disease caused by a virus that has been used in Australia certainly, and possibly in the UK too, to control rabbit populations.
