Kid Konnection: Christmas Books for Toddlers

Every Saturday, I host a feature called Kid Konnection -- a regular weekend feature about anything related to children's books. Today, I'm going to share with you some very fun little Christmas-themed board books which are perfect for little ones!

Summary: Celebrate Christmas with Duck and Goose’s new holiday board book!

Our feathered friends are getting ready for Christmas. The only problem? Goose is more interested in skating, sledding, and making snow angels than in helping Duck decorate their Christmas tree. While Goose has the time of his life in the snow, it seems poor Duck will be left to do all the work. . . .

Tad Hills’s simple text and vivid, expressive illustrations make this sweet, funny little book the perfect stocking stuffer. Preschoolers who loved the bestselling
Duck & Goose Find a Pumpkin—or those meeting Duck and Goose for the first time—will be thrilled to own this charming winter tale. -- Schwartz & Wade

DUCK & GOOSE: IT'S TIME FOR CHRISTMAS! by Tad Hills couldn't be cuter! It's one of my favorite Christmas books that I've discovered this year. Of course, I had a feeling it might be because I am a huge fan of Tad Hill!

DUCK & GOOSE: IT'S TIME FOR CHRISTMAS is for the youngest of children. The book only has a few words per page and the concept is very simple. Goose takes part in lots of fun winter activities only to hear from Duck that it's not time to play these games. It's time for Christmas!

And if you are at all familiar with Tad Hill's illustrations, then you already know that they are positively adorable. Duck and Goose are dressed in their winter hats and scarves and have never looked cuter. The front cover of this book is extra-special because not only does it have a precious picture of Duck and Goose, but it also iridescent and covered in glitter!

I absolutely adore this book and I'm certain any young child would agree.

Summary: It's snowing and the barnyard is filled with excitement at the prospect of a sleigh ride with Mr. Horse. Cat and Dog and Pig and Duck are all ready to go—but Mr. Horse wants to ride in the sleigh too! Get ready for a seasonal ride that every toddler will want to join again and again! Follow-up to Clip-Clop, which was shortlisted for the City of Discovery Picture Book Award. -- Boxer Books

JINGLE-JINGLE by Nicola Smee is another cute book for this time of year for toddlers. The barnyard animals are thrilled to take a sleigh ride with Mr. Horse. They ride over the hills and go faster and faster and ultimately end up having a sleigh ride that they will not soon forget.

This book was a lot of fun. I think little ones are going to love this story about some silly animals and their sleigh ride adventure. There are few words per page so even the most active children should be able to sit through this story. In addition, there are some funny sounds like "jingle-jingle" and "swoosh-swoosh" that kids will find entertaining.

The illustrations in JINGLE-JINGLE are also adorable. The animals' expressions are fun and the pictures are guaranteed to bring a smile to both children's and parents' faces. I especially enjoyed the one where all of the animals have looks of surprise.

JINGLE-JINGLE is another winner!

Summary: Glistening icicles, sparkling wrap on festive gifts, and merrily twinkling lights on trees make a child's Christmas-and this book-absolutely magical. Every page captures the holiday spirit and features something that shimmers and shines. -- Sterling

MERRY SPARKLING CHRISTMAS by Elizabeth Spurr and illustrated by Colleen Madden is yet another precious holiday board book for youngsters. I know this one would have been a big hit with Booking Daughter when she was younger because it's just filled with beautiful (and sparkly) images.

The story is also fun. MERRY SPARKLING CHRISTMAS follows a young boy as he explores all of the sparkly things in and around his house. Along the way, he finds icicles, tinsel, gifts, toys, and city lights to name a few. This book has a few more words on each page than the other two; however, it is still ideal for toddlers. I also think the little ones will enjoy the rhyming cadence of the story.

MERRY SPARKLING CHRISTMAS is a gorgeous book which children will want to look at many, many times!

Thanks to the publisher for sending me these great Christmas board books. Any (or all) of these books would make great holiday gifts!

Personally, if I were duck and goose, I'd steer clear of Christmas or they could end up on somebody's table!

I'm going to look for these at the library (we're in Florida for a few weeks and it's foggy=perfect time to go get some books!) xo

We just got a new great-niece and we have another one coming in the spring! I'll keep these in mind for next year.

I think we have plenty of Christmas books for this year, but I'll have to look for a couple of these to add to Daniel's repertoire for next year!

I am often all about the illustrations when I pick out books and I really like the way the Duck and Goose book grabs me with that cute picture. The story sounds really sweet too.
I knew I recognized the animals in Jingle Jingle; we read Clip Clop in the past. I didn't know there was a follow up. It looks like a fun one! Thanks for hosting!
