Wondrous Words Wednesday - August 4, 2010

Wondrous Words Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Kathy aka Bermuda Onion where we share new (to us) words that we’ve encountered in our reading. Feel free to join in the fun.

THE DOCTOR AND THE DIVA by Adrienne McDonnell

fellahin - On that bridge very motley mode of transportation could be seen: camels, wagons, fellahin on foot, fashionable French motorcars. (p. 301)

fellahin: a native peasant or laborer in Egypt, Syria, etc.

What new words did you discover this week?

I've never heard of fellahin either. Interesting word!

I like that word...it rolls of the tongue nicely. Now, if only I could find a way to use it in a sentence...could I say of the homeless guys in Seattle that they look like fellahin? Probably not.
