a cucumber pickle; gherkin.

charrette - Classes began the first Monday of January with a two-day charrette. (p. 123)

charrette:
a final, intensive effort to finish a project, esp. an architectural design project, before a deadline.

sybarite - "He's a sybarite and a fond old fool." (p. 438)

sybarite:
a person devoted to luxury and pleasure.

Check in the pickle section the next time you go to the grocery store: you'll see jars marked cornichons! (I've gotten them many times!)

I feel like I should have known cornichon, but I didn't. That word sounds too fancy to be pickles. Thanks for participating!
