My brain just doesn't seem to handle dark stuff in the heat of summer. Thanks for your review, I'm kind of glad I passed on it!Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05811292947565794018noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7008131509611971593.post-64623194612045059602009-08-11T23:45:42.712-04:002009-08-11T23:45:42.712-04:00I have this one on my bookshelf. I find myself setting heavier reads down all the time so that I can ponder what I've read before going on with the story.Tihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08687620527201679249noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7008131509611971593.post-67185129158925518602009-08-11T09:59:41.723-04:002009-08-11T09:59:41.723-04:00I am reading a book right now in this genre that y...I am reading a book right now in this genre that you might like. I didn't see it on your blog so maybe you haven't read it yet. March by Geraldine Brooks, a Pulitzer Price winner, is about a minister serving the Union troops in the Civil War. It's mostly set in Virginia. The story is written about the fictional character of the absent father, Mr. March, from Alcott's Little Women. I am in a section where the main character reveals he had a brief romantic encounter with a slave.

So far I enjoy the books writing and heartfelt story.

I have River, Cross My Heart on my book shelf too.
